Local man on Gold Panel

Norm McLaren from Black Creek is going to Vancouver this weekend to take a seat at a prestigious table.

"I will be a member of the Gold Panel at the 46th annual Variety Telethon on Saturday," McLaren proudly explains. "That's a group of individuals from around the province who will have special telephone accessability, so if you don't want to wait on the main line and you want to get direct through to me you just call 604 529 3002."

Every year, over 2,500 volunteers donate their time, while thousands of viewers donate funds to The Variety Show of Hearts Telethon.

The 2011 Telethon raised $7,012,483.

"We've had a lot of children from the Comox Valley and Campbell River areas who've received services through Variety so I think this organization deserves and is worth of some real support," says McLaren.
