Adventure to help Haiti fundraiser trip

Ever thought about helping out with the devastation in Haiti? Or maybe just looking for an adventure?

Haiti in my heart is a volunteer trip set for this May 2^{nd -}14^th. 

“It’s for people who have a desire to go out and do something, but who can wrap your brain around going to a third country if you never been? Well it’s a great experience,” says trip organizer Seanna McLeod. “Most places you go in Haiti, you’re stuck in one place, you never ever leave it and you don’t get to experience the people and culture, so I really like giving this well rounded experience."

This is the Courtenay resident fourth trip to Haiti now. In the past she has brought health care physicians on her trip, but this time around she is looking for more local flavor. However she does caution that it is an expensive trip so fundraising is large part of the trip.

“It is an expense, most people can afford to do it so it’s through the support of friends family,” says McLeod. I myself have raised over $40,000 in just two years so it can be done.”

The cost for the trip, not including airfare is $1,000 per week. McLeod says that  figure includes housing, two meals a deal and transportation to and from work sites.
